Organizations & team access

Set up a shared home for repositories and manage membership.

Create or open an organization

  1. Open Organizations from the workspace.
  2. Use the creation action and complete the organization details.
  3. Open the organization to review the repositories and management controls available to your role.

Manage people and roles

Use the organization’s membership and team controls to give people the access they need. Review roles before granting administrative permissions. Membership alone does not imply permission to change every repository or organization setting.

Create shared repositories

When creating a repository, choose the organization as owner. Repository creation is checked against your organization role. Review team and collaborator access in repository settings, and use private visibility when the project is intended for a limited group.

Review access regularly

Remove access that is no longer needed when someone leaves a project. Review tokens and connected applications separately from membership. A user’s OAuth grant cannot bypass organization or repository permissions.
